This document describes how to identify RIK0087A Advanced High BW Diff. I/O Buffer Modules with 62C boards that were assembled with four 50 ohm resistors that were not intended to be loaded. The "C2" revision has been updated to remove these resistors.

URGENCY: Low

SYMPTOM: 50 ohms added resulting in 50mV and 100mV less than expected on the output. No reported field impact. Documented for reference only.

IDENTIFYING DEFECTIVE BOARDS

Figure 1 shows the bottom of the module Rev C board with four 50 Ohm resistors loaded on the output pins. These should be removed as seen in REV B.

CORRECTIVE ACTION REQUIRED

Return to factory for replacement, contact [email protected]. The reworked rev C boards without the resistors are now a 'C2' green dot beside the "62C" part number on the PCB.

IDENTIFYING CORRECT BOARDS

Figure 2 shows "62C2" and a green "C2" sticker, confirming the 50 ohm resistors are removed.

SCOPE:

25 defective units were assembled from September 23 2015 until the defect was identified July 18 2017.

QTY 4 identified at customer site and retrofitted in place. QTY 20 may also have been retrofitted in place.
