There are two types of Test Head configurations for Cassini ATE systems. The 8 TIM Slot Cassini Test Head which utilizes a fixture bottom plate that has ten resource block locations. Or the 16 TIM Slot Cassini 16 Test Head which utilizes a fixture bottom plate that has 17 resource block locations.
The center two, in systems with 8 Slot Test Heads, are for the RF resources and the Cbit/Fixture power resources (see Figure 1), but on Cassini 16 the RF resources always connect through a TIM slot and so only the Cbit/Fixture power resources block is used.
This leaves 8 or 16 open TIM slots (3-6 and 11-14 in the 8 Slot ), or ( 1-8 and 9-16 in the Cassini 16) for customer assignable locations for the Test Instrument Modules (TIMs). Due to the modularity of the Cassini test head, actual block locations are determined by the customer's preference.
Fixture Bottom Resource recommended Layout:
Resource Type | Position |
Fixture RF | 4 |
Fixture Power & Cbits | (Not Adjustable) |
Fixture WFs | 12 |
Fixture Dbs, DPs, Vms, VIs | 13 |

Fixture Cbits and Power Block:
The Fixture Cbit and Power Block provides the following resources. Note A1 as it relates to the bottom plate(dot). Also note that currently A1-10, B1-10, and G1-10 are not loaded on fixture side.
Close Up of the Fixture Cbits and Power Block:
* Note, all resources are not loaded on DC harness. Colors reflect the wire colors to the testhead; not the color of the wires from the DC harness.
Fixture DC Resource Block:
The Fixture DC Resource Block provides all DC resources with the exception of the Cbits and fixture power. It also provides several v returns (RTN) and ground sense (GS). Note A1 as it relates to the bottom plate(dot). Also note that currently G1-10 and H1-10 are not loaded on fixture side.
Close Up of the Fixture DC Resource Block:
* Note, If using Vcc5,6,7, or 8, the "V5-8GS" (at D1) must be grounded at the DUT board.
Fixture RF Resource Block:
The Fixture RF resource block provides the following resources. Note J1 as it relates to the bottom plate(dot).
Also note that currently C1, C2, C3, C4, C5, and C8 are not currently loaded on the fixture side. if there is a need to measure low band (<2GHz) then C2 and C3 would be cabled to the fixture.
Fixture RF Test Set (TIM) Resource Block:
The Fixture RF Test Set Block provides the actual RF s-parameter measurement capability to the fixture (RF2, RF3, RF6, and RF7). It can reside in any of the customer defined locations (3-6 and 11-14). The J1 location is in the upper left in this view. Note J1 as it relates to the bottom plate(dot). Also note that currently C2 and C6 are not currently loaded on the fixture side.
