Symptom: EPC does not Power ON or abruptly halts without allowing user intervention or troubleshooting.
Root Cause: Failing capacitors on the main board of the EPC have been known to affect the operation of this TIM. While RI has continued to repair and refurbish EPC TIMs affected by this issue, new failures continue to persist.
Solution: Contact [email protected] and request an RMA, including the EPC Serial Number and Tester Serial Number and symptoms leading up to failure.
Background:
The capacitor plague was a problem related to a higher-than-expected failure rate of non-solid aluminium electrolytic capacitors, between 1999 and 2007, especially those from some Taiwanese manufacturers, due to faulty electrolyte composition that caused corrosion accompanied by gas generation, often rupturing the case of the capacitor from the build-up of pressure.
High failure rates occurred in many well-known brands of electronics, and were particularly evident in main boards, video cards, and power supplies of personal computers.
