Cassini application may close abruptly (crash) after 5K-10K+ DUTs tested in a single lot, preventing the current Lot from being stopped and summary STDF datalog being generated. This intermittent issue is particularly difficult to reproduce, so the root cause and scope of affected Test Execs may be adjusted as we learn more. The recorded datalog would need to be recovered from the RITDdb (n-1 datalog) or by using Guru Browser > Export STDF or a recovery STDF Copy Agent with the potential for the last 99 DUT datalogs to be lost. This issue does NOT indicate the EPC has failed. This specific failure is software related and may be fixed with a ShortCut version update. (pending as of 2020-10)

UPDATE: Internal simulations did not implicate this specific issue as contributing to instability.

Severity Range:
Very Low for lots with less than 5,000 DUTs, since the software will not be affected.
High for lots exceeding 5,000 DUTs and only if the lot requires 100% datalog coverage. Since some Testdata loss is possible, the entire lot may need to be tested again. If datalog is not required, then the lot can be continued and this bug will have a minimal affect.

Symptoms

Cassini application closes without any user notification. No Error prompt is generated.

Root Cause
The Test Exec has any of the following views enabled (highlighted) in Exec > Views:
    • Pass/fail window
    • Barchart of Hardbins
    • Barchart of Softbins
    • Barchart of Tests

Resolution
Only for Test Execs which affect DUTs which would have very large Lots. Consider breaking lots into smaller total devices.

To disable Pass/fail and Barchart views:
  1. Prevent this error by editing each Test Exec and disable (not highlighted) ALL of following views in Exec > Views.
      • Pass/fail window
      • Barchart of Hardbins
      • Barchart of Softbins
      • Barchart of Tests
  2. Choose Save (Ok) to preserve changes.
Note: If the Exec's Status=Released, you will have to first create a new Exec with the same Title.
1.
NOTE: Worksheet details window does NOT cause this symptom and can remain enabled (views).

Figure 1: Exec Editor

"For very large lots, RI recommends disabling all views except for the Worksheet details window to avoid causing unexpected crash of the software due to memory constraints. The Worksheet details view is immune from these memory issues because it is running in a different process."

Pass/Fail Window: A sizable window that shows green for pass and red for fail. It can be seen from a long distance across the test floor.

Barchart of Hard bins: The graphical view of passing and failing bins shows a bar for each bin.

Barchart of Soft bins: The graphical view of passing and failing "soft" bins shows a bar for each bin.

Barchart of Tests: The graphical view of passing and failing tests shows a bar for each test.
