This guide provides a simple explanation of how to use a Cassini system. This quick reference guide and the software features in Cassini may change without notice.

Using Cassini

    1. Log On and/or Log Off
      To Log On, click on the button to the right of the screen named “System” and then select “LogOn”.
      To Log Off (once already logged on), click on the "System" button and then select “LogOff”.
    2. Starting Cassini Application:
      Click on the button named 'User Apps' or 'Short Cuts' on the right side of the screen and click on the desired name.
      or
      Click on the button named “Apps” on the right side of the screen and then choose the proper logon ID and password. Next, bring up the main operator window, by clicking on “Apps” on the right side of the screen and then selecting which version of Cassini you would like to run, for example “Cassini v18”. Monitor the activity bar on the bottom of the screen before moving on to the next task.
    3. Opening a System Configuration Window:
      A system configuration window shows which modules, instruments, and fixtures are active for that system. In the system configuration window, instruments can be added, removed, and/or calibrated.
      To view this window, click on the button labeled “System” (from the main operator window) and then “Tester”.
    4. Docking a Fixture to the Testhead:
      Place the fixture on the Testhead with the arrow pointing towards the system. To lock into place, push the green button below and to the right of the test head (above the mechanical arm) while pushing the black handle on the test head away from you (and towards the other handle). Once locked, release the green button. If a handler is used, dock the Fixture to the handler first, then move the Testhead into place.
    5. Creating or Saving a new Fixture Definition into Guru:
      To create a fixture, click on the “Instrument” drop down menu from the System Configuration window. Then select “Add Fixture” and a list of fixture family types will pop up. Select the correct type of fixture definition, then click on “Add”. You can give this fixture a new name by selecting “Retitle” from the same drop down menu. Click on “Instrument” again (or RMBC on the fixture) and then select “Calibration -> “Save” to save this new definition. To save the fixture with a serial number, make sure the fixture is docked while doing the “Calibration -> Save”.
    6. Importing or Saving a Fixture Definition into Guru:
      If the fixture file is not in Guru, then one can be imported from any drive by clicking on “Import” drop down menu from the main operator window and selecting “Fixture”. After the fixture is selected, it will be in Guru, but then must be activated in order to view this fixture from the System Configuration window.

      To activate this file select the “Test” drop down menu and then click on “Fixtures”. A list of fixtures will show up and find the file which was moved into Guru. Highlight the fixture and select “Add”. Now the fixture will be active and viewable from the System Configuration window. To save the fixture by its serial number, make sure the fixture is docked and then highlight the definition and then RMBC and select “Calibration -> Save”.
    7. Importing or Saving a Device Interface (DIB) File into Guru:
      If the DIB file is not in Guru, then one can be imported from any drive by clicking on the “Import” drop down menu from the main operator window and selecting “Device Interface”. Select the appropriate Device Interface file from the appropriate drive. After the device interface is selected, it will be in Guru, but then must be activated in order to view this file.

      To activate this file select the “Test” drop down menu and then click on “Device Interfaces”. A list of fixtures will show up and find the file which was moved into Guru. Highlight the device interface and select “Add”. Now the device interface will be active and viewable from the System Configuration window. To save the device interface by its’ serial number, make sure the fixture is docked with the load board, and then highlight the definition and then RMBC and select “Calibration -> Save”.
    8. Importing or Saving a Device (DUT) File into Guru:
      If the DUT file is not in Guru, then one can be imported from any drive by clicking on the “Import” drop down menu from the main operator window and selecting “Device”. Select the appropriate Device file from the appropriate drive. After the DUT is selected, it will be in Guru, but then must be activated in order to view this file.

      To activate this file select the “Test” drop down menu and then click on “Devices”. A list of devices will show up and find the file which was moved into Guru. Highlight the device and select “Add”. Now the device will be active and viewable from the System Configuration window.
    9. Creating or Saving a New Device Interface (DIB) into Guru:
      To create a Device Interface (DIB) file, click on the “Instrument” drop down menu from the System Configuration window. Then select “Add Dib”. A list of Dib family types will pop up. Select the one you want and then click on “Add”. You can give this DIB a new name by selecting “Retitle” from the same drop down menu. Click on “Instrument” again (or RMBC on the DIB) and then select “Calibration -> Save” to save this new definition. To save the fixture by its’ serial number, make sure the fixture is docked while doing the “Calibration -> Save”.
    10. Activating a Fixture or Device Interface for Viewing Purposes:
      Once a fixture or device interface definition are created, and saved (by their serial numbers) in Guru, then they can be viewed by activating them and adding them to the System Configuration. To activate them, select the “Test” drop down menu from the main operator window and then clicking on “Fixtures” (or “Device Interfaces”). From here, a choice of files already created in Guru will come up for you to choose from. Highlight the desired file and select “Add”. Once selected, they will show up in the System Configuration window, where the calibration data, serial number, or other information can be inspected.
    11. Activating a Fixture or Device Interface for Testing Purposes:
      Once the fixture definition and device interface are saved into Guru (as well as their serial numbers) and docked onto the testhead, then they can be activated by selecting “System” from the main window and then “Check”. The system will find these items by their individual serial numbers and then activate them. Once added these instruments will show up in the System Configuration window.
    12. Activating a DUT from Guru:
      A DUT file does not have a serial number associated with it, so in order for it to be activated, it must be manually activated or activated while compiling a test plan.
      To manually activate a DUT, select the “Test” drop down menu from the main operator window and then select “Devices”. A list will show of multiple devices that are already in Guru. Highlight the one you want to activate, and then select “Add”. The DUT file should now show in the System Configuration window.
    13. Viewing the Serial Number of the Fixture or Device Interface:
      In order to view the serial numbers, the fixture and/or device interface must be in the System Configuration window.

      The serial number for the fixture or device interface can be found by clicking on the “System” button in the main operator window, and then selecting “Equip” and then “Nodes”. This will bring up a list of the items in the equipment pool. Next highlight “Testhead Ctl” and the serial numbers will show in the bottom of this window for the fixture and/or DIB (depending on which is activated). The serial numbers will be denoted as “DSN0000XXXXXXXX”, of which we just use XXXXXXXX as the serial number.
    14. Importing or Saving Test Plans into Guru:
      Test plans can be imported by selecting the “Import” drop down menu from the main operator menu and then selecting “Plans”. Once the test plan is chosen from the proper drive, then it will open up. The test plan can then be saved into Guru by selecting the “File” drop down menu from the test plan and then select “Save Guru”.
    15. Opening Test Plans From Guru:
      If the test plans are already saved into Guru, then they can be opened by selecting the “Test” pull down menu from the main menu and then clicking on “Plans”. This will then open up the test plan.
Using Calibration Features
    1. Activating a Power Meter:
      To activate a power meter, click on the “Instrument” pull down window from the System Configuration window and select “Add”. Select one from the list, such as: “Gi8540BExample”. Select “ok” to the prompt about naming the power meter.
    2. Activating a Cal Kit:
      To activate a power meter, click on the “Instrument” pull down window from the System Configuration window and select “AddCalKit”. Select a calibration kit from the list.
    3. Calibrating a Fixture:
      In order to calibrate a fixture, the fixture must be saved into Guru and activated (seen in the System Configuration window). The calibration plans need to be either imported or opened up from Guru. After each calibration plan is run, then the cal data can be saved by highlighting the fixture in the System Configuration window and by RMBC on the fixture and selecting “Calibration->Save”.
    4. Viewing Fixture Calibration Data:
      To view the calibration data for a fixture, activate the fixture and make sure it is added by looking at the System Configuration window. From this window, highlight the fixture and RMBC and select “Calibration Inspect->View”. Then each path of calibration data can be viewed by RMBC on each one and selecting “View”. Choose from the list of plot types.
    5. Viewing Device Interface Calibration Data:
      To view the calibration data for a Device Interface, activate the fixture and DIB. Make sure it is added by looking at the System Configuration window. From this window, highlight the Device Interface and RMBC and select “Calibration Inspect->View”. Then each path of calibration data can be viewed by RMBC on each one and selecting “View”. Choose from the list of plot types.
    6. Viewing the Creation Date/Time of the Fixture Calibration:
      Select the “Program” drop down menu from the main window and select “Browse Guru”. Then a window will open and select “Keys-> Key1=class”. Then scroll down and highlight “RiFixtureCal”. Click on “name” in the middle of the screen and this button will change to “title” and will sort the fixtures by their title names. Scroll down the list of fixtures on the right to find the fixture that you are interested in. It will also show the calibration date and times here. In order to get more information on the fixture highlight the fixture and below will show details such as the corresponding serial number (ESN#), family name, etc. If you select “Object Keys” (left of center) then it will change to show “Object Contents” and you can see which cal paths have data in them or not.
    7. Viewing the Creation Date/Time of the Device Interface (DIB) Calibration:
      Select the “Program” drop down menu from the main window and select “Browse Guru”. Then a window will pop open and select “Keys-> Key1=class”. Then scroll down and highlight “RiDibCal”. Click on “name” in the middle of the screen and this button will change to “title” and will sort the device interfaces by their title names. Scroll down the list of file names on the right to find the device interface that you are interested in. It will also show the calibration date and times here. In order to get more information highlight the device interface and below will show details such as the corresponding serial number (ESN#), family name, etc. If you select “Object Keys” (left of center) then it will change to show “Object Contents” and you can see which cal paths have data in them or not.
