The RI8608 System Controller uses MXUT4W4B USB RIFL Remote TIM to along with the RI8568A Cassini 16 Infrastructure to control the Cassini system. The steps below provide the procedure to change between the two different system controllers. The RI8608 System Controllers replace the standard RI8574A EPC TIM that uses ArcaOS to run Guru Apps and the Cassini application. The RI8608 System Controller can use either Linux or Microsoft Windows and the Saturn application to operate the Cassini system. The standard Cassini application is also available running in a virtual ArcaOS container.
As long as Guru has a valid backup connection to the Guru Server, the system button is green, then any changes made on the System Controller or EPC will be automatically retrieved when run on the other device. For example, calibrating the Tester with the EPC, then switching to the System Controller, the software will automatically use the latest Cal Data available.
To Remove RI8574 EPC TIM and Connect RI8608 System Controller:
1. Follow the steps to power off the EPC. (ArcaOS > Shut Down... > Power Off)
2. On the Cassini 16 Infrastructure, rotate the Power Switch to the OFF position.
3. Unlatch the RI8574 EPC TIM from the Cassini 16 Infrastructure (T0 Location) and remove the TIM.
4. Attach the MXUT4W4B USB RIFL Remote TIM to T0 Location and latch the TIM. Be sure the latch is fully closed.
5. Attach the USB cable to the System Controller.
6. On the Cassini 16 Infrastructure, rotate the Power Switch to the ON position to activate the MXUT4W4B USB RIFL Remote TIM.
7. Power On the System Controller and follow the steps to startup the Tester.
(Optionally) Saturn is launched automatically and must be ready prior to launching the Cassini in Container from the Short Cut menu.
To Remove RI8574 EPC TIM and Connect RI8608:
1. Follow the steps to power off the System Controller. (OS > Shut Down... > Power Off)
2. On the Cassini 16 Infrastructure, rotate the Power Switch to the OFF position.
3. Disconnect the USB cable from the MXUT4W4B USB RIFL Remote TIM.
4. Unlatch the MXUT4W4B USB RIFL Remote TIM from the Cassini 16 Infrastructure (T0 Location) and remove the TIM.
5. Attach the RI8574 EPC TIM to T0 Location and latch the TIM. Be sure the latch is fully closed.
6. On the Cassini 16 Infrastructure, rotate the Power Switch to the ON position to activate the EPC and follow the steps to startup the Tester.
