This document describes the advantages of QuickLock DIB Stack (Top Plate, Pedestal Support, Pedestal(s) and DIB Clamp) vs the Matrix Top Plate, DIB Clamp and Pedestal Support. QuickLock is different because the pedestal support is attached directly to the DIB Clamp whereas the old design has the DIB Clamp attach to the Top Plate. This allows the QuickLock DIB stack to be exchanged rapidly by only screwing 4 locations instead of 24, an over 80% improvement in change-over time. This makes the most sense for facilities with frequent DIB changeovers. Also, the Matrix Top Plate, DIB Clamp and Pedestal Supports have limited availability with longer lead times and increasingly higher costs over time. With at least two sets of QuickLock DIB Stack hardware, one set can be prepared while the other is in production. The operator can prepare for the next DUT while the current DUT is still being tested.

Limited Availability Notice
See the Service Bulletin describing the dates that the Matrix style Top Plate, DIB Clamp and Pedestal Support notifications were made.

Advantages
  • Faster DUT changeover time
  • More reliable alignment and insertion repeatability
  • Less electromagnetic leakage due to improved contact with conductive elastomer
  • Fast fulfillment and lowest cost option

Backward Compatibility
  • Through holes must be added to DIBs designed for the Matrix Top Plate
  • All blind mate insert signal launches fully compatible.
  • Not compatible with DIB surface connector based launches (Limited Availability)

What Is QuickLock?
QuickLock is the mechanical design used to create a DIB Stack ("Sandwitch") that includes the DUT Interface Board (PCB) designed by the customer and the Pedestal designed for the DUT socket, along with the standard DIB Clamp and Pedestal Support. First the Pedestals are attached to the pedestal support with 4 screws. Then the DIB is placed on the underside of the DIB Clamp and the Pedestal support is attached to the DIB Clamp with 4 more screws. This DIB Stack (sandwich) is then attached to the Fixture Top Plate prior to docking with the Handler.

DIB Modifications
The following describe the modifications required to a DIB to make it compatible for both a QuickLock and Matrix designs.
