This document lists the pinouts for the 25 pin D-Sub female connector on the RI8517A handler pods. The Ri8517A pod is an open collector drive device. Because of the nature of OC drive, it is typical to have pull up resistors on the lines at the terminating end equipment. There are situations where the terminating equipment may not have a pullup voltage present needed for the pullup resistors. In that situation, the Ri8517A pod provides a resettable polyfuse protected +5V source. This voltage is provided on PINS 11, 13 and 14. All Ri8517A pods manufactured from July 2000 forward have this internally jumpered and enabled.
If the terminating equipment has pull up resistors tied to an appropriate (+5V) pull up voltage, a connection to PINS 11, 13 and 14 is not needed.

- A 10K ohm resistor should be installed between each SOT (Start Of Test) pin and pin 13 (+5V for pull up) or pin 12 (ground for pull down).
- This pin is not used for single site, but is internally connected. Do not connect it to anything.
- The +5V is not protected against outside voltage. Voltages less than +5V should not damage the module but voltages over +5V will cause damage.
- On Older RI8503As, pins 13/14 need to be jumpered to +5V. On newer modules it is jumpered internally.
